Bonang Matheba: Style Icon

Lately I've really been into reading local(Africa) fashion blogs and I stumbled onto Bonang Matheba's blog. OMG! Bonang is a South African radio and tv personality and was also on Forbes "13 Africans to watch in 2013". What an achievement.
She is beautiful and super stylish! I would describe her style as classy and trendy and of international standard! I could write for days but I believe pictures are worth more!
I absolutely gush over her statement necklaces because I am a "statement piece" kinda girl!

This Gown! This dress right here! I looove it!

New Year, New Closet, Smart Shopping

Let's get down to business, fashion business. This year I've decided to switch up my style. Currently my style is very much in the safe zone, you know those "can't go wrong with this outfit" looks. It was okay, but I never really stood out from the crowd, I blended in. There were so many looks and trends I wanted to try but I was afraid of being judged or laughed at( I come from a small third world country, so the fashion here is  a bit behind but not that bad). I told myself that if I ever want to become a renowned fashion designer one day, then my fear of being laughed at or misunderstood has to go down the drain. I will wear whatever I want to wear as long as I'm happy, confident and comfortable! I'm gonna do me from now on.

The list of items I want to add to my closet is endless. I literally want to throw out my old items and just start off a fresh new collection. Since that is not quite possible, I'll do it bit by bit. As I bring in new stuff, i'll chuck out older items. This is a good idea for anyone who feels like starting off fresh too, on a budget.

So the next step of course is what to buy and when. I have my go-to sources that I read up and watch before I go shopping. Its not that I do not trust myself, but I want to know if certain items are worth buying or to find out about online stores that I may not know about. My current favorite go-to's are:

The three girls each have such individual style and I love it. I think they have something for everyone. And not to forget my ultimate go-to that I cannot live without is lookbook! I go on everyday and spend hours online, love it.
How often one shops really depends on how much you get. For a huge haul, I would shop once every 2 months and then for 1 or 2 items then once every 3 weeks or whenever your finances allow you to. It really depends on you and your resources. An important point though, is to SHOP WITHIN YOUR MEANS! If you cannot afford something, rather stay away from the mall and save up until you can. Do not get into debt because of clothes, its not worth it. Also, if you cannot afford to shop at high end fashion stores then do not go in there, STAY AWAY. Find shops that have similar designs, that are friendly to your pocket.
I've started this new thing of making a list of what I want to buy. It starts with necessities down to "if there's money left over" items. This prevents me from going wild in a shop and coming out with junk which was a major problem in previous years.

This is the longest post I've ever done, YAY, I hope you find it helpful and I will definitely be doing more posts like these, with tips and so forth. Happy Shopping Ladies!!

Happy New Year!..Update.

Ola! Happy New Year! I know, I know, I have abandoned this blog for so long but one my resolutions is to blog more. The last three months have been pretty hectic for me. I just finished school( I PASSED) and started working on my college applications and what not. My emotions were outta control at times but I plan on working hard on that this year. I mended some relationships, which I am really pleased about. Did I mention that my camera is broken, I could cry every time I think about it but I'm working on getting a new one soon.
Christmas and New Years was an EPIIIIIC fail. Nothing went according to what I had envisioned but oh well, I spent it with my family which I am truly greatful for.
This year is going to be the beginning of wonderful things and I know it! I am actually following my resolutions this year, unlike before. I am eating HEALTHY food!
Onto other matters, recently I discovered ChianoSky, singer from South Africa. This girl is AMAZING! Her music is so original and true, so fuzzy and warm, it makes me so happy. I do not actually buy Cd's( except One Direction), but I will definitely be getting her album 'Hungry' soon. Oh and not to mention, this diva is super stylish! Give her a few years and she will become a fashion icon.

I could write forever, but this is just a brief update on whats been going on in my life for the past few months. I'll be doing a serious marathon of posts, stay tuned..
